THE RIDE- Saturday December 9 (12pm-5pm) - the downhill trails at the Beechworth MTB Park (nothing too technical but challenging at speed) + Woolshed Trail (a cool fast flowing trail with some jumps, berms and a natural wallride). Sunday December 10 (9am-4pm) - the Mt Stanley DH Trail (Australia's longest and certainly one of the most challenging rock gardens you'll ever ride). This Gravity Downhill Weekend is ONLY suitable for at least strong intermediate DOWNHILL riders.

COST -Entry price is $70 + MTBA licence ($5 for the weekend for non MTBA members- compulsory).

LOCATION - The town of Beechworth is around a 3 hour drive from Melbourne in North-East Victoria. Travel up the Hume Fwy past Wangaratta and take the Beechworth turnoff. If coming from the north, Beechworth is a 35-40 minute drive from Albury/Wodonga. Follow the signs through Wodonga to Beechworth. Travel time from Canberra is 4 hours.

ACCOMMODATION - For all your accommodation/travel enquiries and bookings, please call the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre on

TIME/ PLACE- Meet at the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park at 12pm on Saturday December 9, 2006. To get to the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park turn right at the only roundabout in town if coming from the south (ie- Melbourne) or turn left if coming from the north (ie- Albury). Take the next left which is High Street and follow this road for a little over 2km. The road becomes Alma Rd and eventually turns to dirt. Continue straight on this road and ignore other roads that branch off. You can't miss the big Beechworth Mountain Bike Park sign on the left (and the jumps).

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ? - Riders must be fully self-sufficient. Please bring along at least a basic pack with spare tubes and tools, water, some snack food and anything else that you're likely to need on the track. Full face helmets are compulsory and body armour is strongly recommended. Oh yeah, don't forget your bike !! A BBQ lunch will be provided for the downhill ride on the Sunday at Mt Stanley as there is nothing out there ! BYO lunch/snacks for the ride on Saturday afternoon at the Beechworth MTB Park.
