GENERAL INFORMATION

SINGLETRACK SESSIONS is a traditional Cross-Country multiple lap race that is Round #4 of the MTBA State XC series. The course is in the pine forest at Everton Upper, located 10min drive from Beechworth in NE Victoria. The race starts at 10am on Sunday February 9, 2003. Fifty percent of the entry fee goes towards the prize pool. The course will be marked and open to pre-ride on Saturday, the day before the race.

THE RIDE- The Singletrack Sessions race will be 70-80% singletrack with the balance bush tracks. Each lap will be around 4-5km long. The number of laps will be determined by the race category entered. There is a mix of riding from some technical and challenging singletrack sections to fast and fun sections. Singletrack satisfaction (or despair) is guaranteed ! A BBQ Lunch and drinks are available at the race site. There are no other facilities at the race site but we're not far from Beechworth.

COST -Entry fee is $20 for the event. Compulsory insurance for the event for everyone is through Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA). If you are not a member of MTBA, a day licence is available for an additional $10.

LOCATION - The town of Beechworth is around a 3 hour drive from Melbourne in North-East Victoria. Travel up the Hume Fwy past Wangaratta and take the Beechworth turnoff. If coming from the north, Beechworth is a 35-40 minute drive from Albury/Wodonga. Follow the signs through Wodonga to Beechworth. The race site is on Diffey Rd next to the Rail Trail which will be marked from Beechworth (see map). The race site will be marked from both Everton and Beechworth road approaches.

ACCOMODATION - We highly recommend that riders stay in the Beechworth area the night prior to the Singletrack Sessions event. For all your accomodation/travel enquiries and bookings, please call the Beechworth Tourist Information Centre on 1300 366 321. There's a range of accomodation available in Beechworth ranging from Caravan Parks to Motels, B&B's and pub style rooms. For non-riders, the town and area surrounding Beechworth has lots to offer- great shops, galleries, museums, a famous Bakery, walks, Historic Park and more ! TIME/ PLACE- Meet at the race site on Diffey Rd (Everton Upper pine forest south of Beechworth) which will be signposted as you come into town from both directions. Registration (compulsory for all riders) is from 8.00am-9.30am on race day.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ? -  Riders must be fully self-sufficient. Please bring along at least a basic pack with spare tubes and tools, plenty of water and anything else that you're likely to need on the track. Helmuts are of course compulsory.

CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY ? -  Yes, but we strongly recommend that you pre-book and send your entry forms with payment in to us to save you time on the day and make our job easier. Please do not post your entry forms and payment to us after Monday February 3, 2003. Entry forms sent after this date may not get to us in time. After this date, please enter and pay on the morning of the event- registration is from 8.00-9.30am on Sunday February 9, 2003.
